The XT1 ST54 is a smooth and capable large-property riding mower. The Kohler engine is reliable, the 54-inch deck is efficient, and the hydrostatic transmission handles my varied terrain well. My complaint is the seat armrests — one cracked from vibration after just one full mowing season. The plastic quality doesn't match the rest of the mower's construction. A comfort item rather than a mechanical issue but it's annoying on a machine at this price point. Everything mechanical has been excellent.

The 54-inch fabricated deck covers my 3.5-acre property in about 75 minutes with a clean, professional-quality cut. The Kohler engine starts reliably every time and runs smoothly through every session. The hydrostatic transmission is smooth and precise. The seat handles my long sessions comfortably. Three full seasons of trouble-free operation. Outstanding.
The Cub Cadet XT1 ST54 is an impressive riding mower for large properties — the 54-inch fabricated deck covers ground quickly and the Kohler engine is powerful and smooth. My first-day issue was a noticeable wobble in the steering wheel that made it feel loose and imprecise. A dealer visit confirmed the steering column bolt was under-torqued from the factory. Tightened and it's been solid since. Good mower overall but that first-week concern was frustrating on a new machine at this price point.

Three full mowing seasons with the XT1 ST54 and it has been mechanically reliable. The Kohler engine is dependable and the 54-inch deck efficiency is a genuine time-saver on my large property. My ongoing frustration is the deck wash port — the hose connection doesn't seal well and doesn't generate enough flow to clean the full 54-inch deck effectively. Grass buildup under the deck requires regular manual scraping more than it should. Minor design issue on an otherwise good large-property mower.
